Volleyball club ASK lost key players

In Russian volleyball, as in other team sports, it is now the off-season. Superleague clubs have not yet returned from vacation, the players are enjoying the holidays and training according to an individual program. July is a time of active selection work and high-profile transfer news.

In Nizhny Novgorod volleyball, the 2023 off-season was one of the worst during ASK’s performance in the Super League. Last season, ASK showed its best result in history, Andrey Dranishnikov’s wards reached the second round of the playoffs, and before that they were stronger than Kuzbass.

The success of a modest team in sports has two sides. The worst-case scenario happened to ASK. The rivals bought out three main players from ASK – the setter Konstantin Tyushkevich, the diagonal Pavel Zheleznyakov and the blocker Artyom Dovgan.

Now the leadership of Nizhny Novgorod is faced with the task of forming a combat-ready team capable of competing with the best teams in the elite division of Russian volleyball.
