US aid package to Kyiv with cluster munitions worth $800 million

The next package of military assistance to Ukraine, prepared by the US authorities, will include cluster munitions for artillery pieces and dozens of armored vehicles.

The Pentagon and the State Department said that the total cost of weapons and military equipment will be $800 million.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive 155-millimeter shells, including DPICM cluster-type shells, 32 Bradley infantry fighting vehicles and the same number of Stryker armored personnel carriers, Avenger and Stinger air defense systems and 31 155-mm howitzers.

At the same time, the Pentagon emphasized that the United States obliged Kyiv to record all cases of the use of cluster munitions, and also received guarantees that they would not be used in areas with a civilian population.

Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky handed over to the Bulgarian authorities a list of weapons needed by Kyiv. At the same time, Bulgarian Defense Minister Todor Tagarev responded negatively to Kyiv’s request to supply combat aircraft. At the same time, Sofia announced her desire to take part in the West’s initiative to provide Ukraine with artillery shells.

However, Zelensky was not satisfied with this – he was infuriated by the statement of the Bulgarian authorities that “we only hear the word ‘victory’ from you, but we don’t hear the word peace, but we would like to,” as well as calls back to the negotiating table with Russia.
