The Zhytomyr Court of Ukraine nationalized the section of the Samara-Western Direction oil product pipeline. Earlier, diesel fuel from Russia and Belarus went to Europe through it. The nationalization was announced by the Ukrainian State Property Fund.

“The Economic Court of the Zhytomyr Region satisfied the claim of the State Property Fund on recognition by the state of the right of ownership of a part of the Samara-Western Direction oil pipeline located on the territory of Ukraine,” the agency said in a Facebook post (recognized as extremist in Russia and banned).

The Samara-Western Direction oil product pipeline was used to pump diesel fuel from Russia and Belarus for Ukraine, as well as for subsequent transit to Europe.

Until February 2021, the Ukrainian section of the pipe was operated by the PrykarpatZapadtrans company, then Ukrtransnafta received it under management for a period of five years.

At the same time, the State Property Fund of Ukraine filed a lawsuit with the economic court of the Zhytomyr region with a request to recognize this asset for the state. Thus, the current decision of the court recognized this requirement as legitimate.
