The Threads app became the first in terms of downloads in the Russian App Store – Kommersant

The Threads app ranked first among the most downloaded apps in the App Store in Russia. The application also became the leader in downloads in the US, RBC reported, citing service data.

On the eve of the head of Meta (recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation), Mark Zuckerberg said that in the first seven hours after the launch of Threads on July 6, more than 10 million users registered in the application, by the evening of July 6 – 30 million.

Some users and advertisers abandoned the use of Twitter after Elon Musk, who bought the social network, made a number of controversial decisions. In particular, he restored some previously blocked accounts, softened the rules of moderation, and made the verification function paid (blue tick). In early July, Twitter limited the number of tweets a user can read per day.

Threads, which should become an analogue of Twitter, launched on the night of July 6th. The app is now available on the Apple and Google Android app stores in over 100 countries, including the US, UK, Australia, Canada, and Japan. The application is available in Russian.
