the third collaboration between Hublot and Maxim Bushy – Kommersant

Maxime Bushy, the founder of the London-based tattoo studio Sang Bleu (now also operating in Los Angeles and Zurich), and the Hublot watch brand have been cooperating since 2016. Despite all the symbolism of such alliances, which usually come down to placing the partner’s logo on the dial, seven years ago, Bushy managed to create something new – namely, the three-dimensional geometry of the Hublot Big Bang round watch case inspired by Leonardo da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man. Launched at the recent Salone del Mobile in Milan, the brand’s third collaboration with Bushy is interesting in that the Spirit of Big Bang’s barrel-shaped case, which features smooth curves for a more comfortable position on the wrist, became the object of design experiments for the first time. With a diameter of 42 mm and a thickness of 15.7 mm, the watch also has a three-dimensional design.

Hexagons, rhombuses and triangles characteristic of Bushy’s tattoos appear and overlap, playing with relief and depth through the alternation of polished and satin, engraved and chiseled, beveled and faceted surfaces. The Spirit of Big Bang Sang Bleu watch, equipped with an automatic skeletonized chronograph movement, will be released in three limited editions: 200 pieces in titanium, 200 pieces in black ceramic, 100 pieces in King Gold rose gold. In addition, two jewelry versions are announced in titanium and King Gold cases, encrusted with 180 diamonds with a total weight of about 2.4 ct.
