Paris 2024 Olympic Organizing Committee introduced the design of the torch to be used as part of the Olympic torch relay before the opening of the games. In total, it is planned to produce 2 thousand copies.

The torch is divided into two halves: the top is matte and the bottom is glossy, with a wavy texture. From the press release of the organizing committee it follows that the designer Matthieu Leanner relied on three symbols: “Equality is symbolized by perfect symmetry. Water is symbolized by wave, relief and vibrational effects. Peacefulness symbolizes the softness of the curves.

The torch, made of steel, is 70 cm long and weighs 1.5 kg. The number of copies for the 2024 Games has been halved to reduce environmental impact. Manufacturer ArcelorMittal plans to use recycled steel.

The Olympic Games will be held from July 26 to August 11, 2024. The Olympic flame will be lit in Greece and will arrive in Marseille on May 8, in time for the start of the relay. 11 thousand people will take part in it.
