There are no critical threats to the preservation of the Trinity icon by Andrei Rublev as a cultural monument. This opinion was expressed on Wednesday, June 21, by the Director General of the All-Russian Artistic Research and Restoration Center named after Academician I.E. Grabar Dmitry Sergeev.

The expert said that in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, where the icon is currently located, the optimum temperature for it is fixed, although there is some deviation in the level of humidity.

In general, there is no threat to the safety of the Trinity icon, Sergeev concluded.

Earlier, the Ministry of Culture said that the icon “Trinity” by Andrei Rublev will be in the Moscow Cathedral of Christ the Savior until July 19. The agency’s statement said that the decision to extend the stay of the icon in the temple is connected with the requests of the Russian Orthodox Church to give believers the opportunity to bow to the icon on the feast of St. Sergius of Radonezh, which will take place on July 18.

Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for International Cultural Cooperation Mikhail Shvydkoy expressed the opinion that after the return of the icon “Trinity” by Andrei Rublev from the Cathedral of Christ the Savior it should be conserved – in the shortest possible time to make a high-tech case for it, which will maintain the required temperature and humidity conditions.
