Spanish Defense Minister Robles condemns US decision to send cluster munitions to Ukraine

Spain does not support the decision of the President of the United States to send cluster munitions to Ukraine. This statement was made by Spanish Defense Minister Margarita Robles, the video of the speech was published by the Vanguardia newspaper.

“Spain does not share this decision … We are against sending cluster munitions … This is not a NATO decision,” the head of the Spanish defense department said.

Robles also added that Madrid proceeds from “strong obligations to Ukraine”, but continues to adhere to the position that there are types of weapons and ammunition that cannot be transferred under any circumstances.

On Friday, the US announced a new military aid package for Ukraine, which also includes DPICM cluster munitions, which are banned by an international convention.
