Russia became the largest supplier of gas to Spain in June – Kommersant

Due to repairs on the Algerian gas pipeline, Russia delivered 26.8% of its total gas to Spain in June, ahead of Algeria and the United States. This follows from the data of the Spanish energy company Enagas. Due to repair work on the Medgaz gas pipeline, deliveries through it decreased by 36% compared to May.

Algiers in June took second place in terms of gas supplies to Spain (21%), followed by the US (18.5%) and Nigeria (10%). Deliveries from Peru accounted for 9.7% of the total.

In the first six months of this year, 24.4% of all imported gas came from Algeria, 20.2% from the US and 20.1% from Russia.

The West, which announced a price ceiling for oil products from Russia, did not prohibit gas imports. The European Union (EU) plans to rapidly reduce consumption, so Gazprom’s supplies to the EU could almost cease by 2025. In the first quarter of 2023, Gazprom provided 7.5% of the total gas imports to the EU, while in the first quarter of 2022 its share was 28%, and the year before – about 40%.
