Kazakhstan increased export of goods to Russia by 45% in monetary terms over the year

From January to May 2023, Kazakhstan exported goods to Russia for a total of $4.04 billion, which is 45% more than in the same period last year ($2.79 billion), follows from preliminary data Kazakh Bureau of National Statistics.

The total trade turnover of Kazakhstan with Russia in January-May 2023 amounted to $10.5 billion. For the same period last year, it amounted to $9.59 billion. The share of the Russian Federation in the trade turnover of Kazakhstan increased from 18.6% to 18.8% over the reporting period.

The total trade turnover of Kazakhstan with the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) over the five months of this year increased in annual terms by 10.5%, to $11.43 billion. The trade turnover of Kazakhstan and the EU over the reporting period from $17.15 billion to $17.17 billion.

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin declaredthat the trade turnover between Russia and Kazakhstan in 2022 amounted to a record 2 trillion rubles, despite the sanctions. In turn, the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Alikhan Smailov, said that in 2022 the figure increased by 6%.
