FAS proposes to increase regulated gas prices in July 2024 and 2025 by 8%

Regulated prices for natural gas in Russia are proposed to be indexed from July 1, 2024 and July 1, 2025 by 8%. Relevant document of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) placed on the portal of projects of normative legal acts. Earlier gas prices rose in December 2022 by 8.5%.

The Order approves wholesale gas prices used as the minimum and maximum wholesale price levels for gas produced by PJSC Gazprom and its affiliates.

The funds received will be used for the social gasification of the regions and the construction of new gas pipelines for consumers, the ministry said. As noted in the Federal Antimonopoly Service, the proceeds from the increase in tariffs will be directed to the social gasification of regions and the construction of new gas pipelines for consumers.

The Ministry of Energy also explained the need for an increase by the fact that now more than 30% of Russian gas pipelines have been in operation for more than 40 years. “Besides, the indexation of tariffs will speed up the pace of implementation of the social gasification program, which has become indefinite,” the department told Interfax.

Previous time gas tariffs rose by 8.5% from December 1, 2022. Over the past year, Gazprom has reduced exports to non-CIS countries by almost 46%. The net profit of Gazprom, as follows from the IFRS statements for 2022, decreased by 41.4%, to 1.226 trillion rubles.
