Elements of the ship “Progress MS-22” flooded in the Pacific Ocean – Kommersant


The elements of the Progress MS-22 cargo spacecraft that did not burn in the atmosphere were flooded in the Pacific Ocean after it was deorbited. This was reported by the press service of Roscosmos.

“Today, Progress MS-22 was deorbited, entered the atmosphere and collapsed. Unburned structural elements of the ship fell in the non-navigable area of ​​the South Pacific Ocean,”— says in the message. The spacecraft undocked from the International Space Station (ISS) at 02:50 Moscow time on Monday night, August 21. After undocking, he switched to autonomous flight.

Progress MS-22 has been on the ISS since February 11, 2023, after the ship delivered more than 2.5 tons of cargo to the station. During his stay at the Progress MS-22 station, he took the ISS away from space debris three times (twice in March and August) and corrected the orbit seven times.

Next week, the Progress MS-24 ship will dock in its place. Its launch in Baikonur will take place on August 23.
