Biden announced US readiness to help Ukraine in the same way as Israel

US President Joe Biden announced the readiness of the United States to provide Ukraine with the same assistance that is provided to Israel.

“The United States will be ready to provide assistance as long as this process continues after the war. We are ready to provide assistance in the field of security, such as we provide to Israel. We are ready to provide the weapons that are required in order to protect ourselves,” he said in an interview with CNN.

At the same time, Biden once again stressed that NATO membership is premature for Ukraine. He also doubted the unanimity of the alliance countries regarding the admission of Ukraine.

“But, if we did, we would be determined to fulfill our obligation to protect every inch of NATO territory. We would be at war with Russia if that were the case,” he said.

Earlier, US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said at a briefing at the White House that Ukraine needs to carry out “additional reforms” to join NATO. According to him, President Joe Biden insists on this. At the same time, Sullivan added that Biden would be glad to have the opportunity to meet with Zelensky at the NATO summit. According to Sullivan, the United States continues to adhere to the principles not to participate in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine and not to provide Ukrainians with weapons to attack the Russian Federation.

Earlier it was reported that Ukraine may not count on the status of a member of the North Atlantic Alliance following the NATO summit, which will be held in Vilnius on July 11-12. This was announced in the American White House. US Permanent Representative to NATO Julianne Smith said earlier that the final communiqué of NATO countries following the summit in Vilnius “will not be a reformulation” of the document following the Bucharest summit – it will reflect the United States’ assessment of “Ukraine’s desire to join the alliance.”
