Beta version of Winamp now available on smartphones – Kommersant


The Llama Group, which owns the rights to the Winamp music player, stated about the start of beta testing of the application for iOS and Android. The company invites those who have tried the new version of Winamp to share their impressions on the Discord channel.

The Winamp smartphone app will be able to find all the music on the user’s device and organize it into playlists. Fanzone, a music streaming service that is positioned as a platform for independent musicians to sell their music and products directly to listeners, will also be available. Fans can subscribe to their favorite artists for $1 per month each. Also, the performers will have their own pages of authors, as in social networks.

Winamp released the first Android app in 2010, but it was not successful and closed after a couple of years. Llama Group company announced return of Winamp in March 2023. The company plans to reach the number of users in 250 million people.
